Frequently Asked Questions
WhAt is ramen?
Ramen is a Japanese noodle dish that typically involves soup (broth), noodles, and toppings. It is one of the most delicious foods on earth!
On the surface Ramen is a very simple, humble, and deeply satisfying meal, however creating it is actually a complex process that takes dedication, time and passion to make.
Ramen comes in four main types; Tonkotsu (thick creamy pork bone broth), Miso, Shōyu (soy sauce) and Shio (salt) based flavourings. However in recent years there have been plenty more variations to explore too, including Vegan and Vego options too!
Ramen has grown in popularity worldwide over the past several years, and Sydney Ramen Festival hopes to keep this enthusiasm developing further!

I have never been a ramen restaurant before and have no idea what to do?
No problem! We are here to help!
Most Ramen places in Sydney are done by just turning up (no booking required) and all this information is on each shops page on this website. Some shops are cash only, so be sure to check this detail too.
Ramen can be fun with friends, but also eating by yourself is totally fine and you can focus on the bowl of soul in front of you.
Choose your own adventure when eating – slurp the broth, slurp the noodles and get messy! The best thing to do is find flavours that work for you. Because of the multitude of varieties, you will be able to find a bowl that sings to your palette!
